The day was grey and misty and the Earth was muddy and cold. What a perfect time to warm the hearts of Los Angeles with our Twelve Pets of Christmas promotion! As you may know, LA doesn’t get a lot of rain. When it does rain, people tend to stay home curled up on the couch with a movie.
Around 11 a.m. on Saturday, staff and volunteers at Los Angeles Animal Services in West LA transported several friendly, energetic dogs and one sleepy kitten to prospective adopters waiting in Venice Beach for our Pet Adoptions in Venice event.
We have held four mobile adoption events so far and already created quite a buzz in the neighborhood. This is thanks in part to our spectacular location, Robin’s Sculpture Garden on Abbot Kinney Blvd. Many fine people stopped by to greet our adorable adoptable animals, who relished the attention and adventure of exploring this bustling community.
On site were also members of K9 Connection, an organization that provides life skills education to at risk teens through obedience training with shelter dogs. Somehow the energy and excitement of the day did not disturb the sleepy kitty’s nap. The afternoon drizzled on and just when volunteers began to feel as though the day would turn out to be more of a field trip than an adoption success, a very sweet match was made.
Matilda, a very precious chi-mix, caught the attention of a lovely lady named Toby. They make a perfect pair and we all wish the two of them all the happiness in the world!
Matilda was eligible for $40 off of her adoption fee because as a Chihuahua mix, she is one of our Twelve Pets of Christmas!
