One of the best things in life is spending time with those you love. Whether it be family, friends or a significant other, we crave the company of those who relate to us and make us feel comfortable. Your pet is no different. Like humans, dogs and cats are social creatures who require companionship to achieve a happy, well-balanced life.  We know you want the best for your pet, so during Adopt & Shop’s Blockbuster Summer for Pets, we urge you: adopt a buddy for your best friend!

Pet 2 Adopt a Buddy for Your Best Friend

All adoptable pets at Adopt & Shop are sourced from local shelters in Southern California.

Two pets benefits them and you.

  • Alleviate separation anxiety. Dogs who stay home alone all day have nothing to occupy their time other than wondering when they will see you next. This angst can manifest in destructive behaviors such as chewing, scratching, digging and clawing – - your couch, your house, your yard, you name it. If your dog has a buddy, they can play together and keep each other company until you get home from work.
  • Promote emotional well-being. Cats who are left by themselves all day can get bored, which spells trouble for you. This trouble runs the gamut from nuisance behavior such as breaking things and pottying outside the litterbox, to more serious issues like depression and illness.  Two cats can keep each other company and ward off loneliness.
  • Learn behavior cues and socialization. Dogs and cats learn behaviors expected of them by humans by interacting with us. Similarly, they are socialized within their peer groups by interacting with and learning from dogs and cats. If they don’t get this interaction, unwanted behaviors can develop.
  • Parenting multiples is fulfilling. Adopted pets give so much back to us. Love, companionship, laughter, joy — these rewards double when you save another pet’s life by adopting into your household.

We were inspired by Amanda Seyfried’s unwavering support of rescue pets when putting together our campaign for “pet 2,” and we’re having a great time showcasing our adoptable pets as movie stars. But finding homeless pets their forever homes is our priority.

Skipper, featured above, is a 2 1/2-year-old American Staffordshire Terrier. She is a great running partner and loves the wind in her face during car rides. She is also very affectionate, great on the leash and will sit on command. Adopt Skipper from Adopt & Shop Culver City between June 23rd and July 3rd and we will discount her adoption fee 50%. Come adopt your best buddy today!
